A small talk with the RUSSIAN EXTREME SYMPHONIC METAL BAND "GRAILIGHT"................

Grailight is a Russian Symphonic Extreme Metal band with the band member Demether on Vocal, Tymon on Guitar and Keys, Radmir on Bass and Kain on Drums. Their music represents the past Russian Empire.

Order of GRAILIGHT is founded in February of 2013 year Anno Bastardi, by ex-knights of Arcane Grail. We play Symphonic Extreme Metal Art; Elixir of melodic black metal, gothic doom and melodic death metal with classical music. The Sense of the name of the Order is revealed in the aspiration for the True Light, the Absolute Purity and Liberation, in a Way of search of Spiritual Perfection. The acquisition of Light of Grail grants the divine force, wisdom and Supreme Solace. While playing in Arcane Grail the we have been creating two full-length albums: «Mysteries of the Ancient Charnel" (conceptual story about ancient Gothic king Germanarih) in 2006 and «Arya Marga" in 2009, both published by Russian label Musica Production, and also a mini-collection "Tribute to the Past" in 2011 year. On “Arya Marga – Ninefold Path to the Innocence” were conceptual nine hymns – nine ways of Vedic knowledge and Weltanschauung, leading the men to Enlightenment. Being the part of Arcane Grail we were on tours with the Estonians Ceremonial Perfection, Russians Trelleborg and Swedes Netherbird in Russia, the Baltic States and Poland.
In February of 2013 year, due to various personal and creative contradictions, and to mark the beginning of the New Golden Age of Aquarius,we (Demether and Tymon) decided to leave Arcane Grail and open a new chapter in our musical life, adopted a new name - GRAILIGHT, entered upon a New Path with New Spirit and initiated through Upanayanam's death and rebirth, continuing and developing the tradition and style inherent in AG (Arcane Grail). Now we are in Arsafes Studio recording our new full-length album. We haven’t played live as a new band but as concerts of Arcane Grail were hellish and super, it's a great experience for us, so that future gigs will be more energetic and hell-driving, Arcane Grail's shows every time got very good and loud response by the crowd, and we're not going to stop at that. We're going to kick asses live; said Demether and Tymon. We have inspired from many band. Though we haven’t done any shows but I believe the songs of us will make the crowd mad.

We generally choose the Interweaving of many esoteric teachings - Vedism, Buddhism, Sufism, Thelema, Slavic Rodnoverie, agnostic deism, Nietzsche’s. I do not know what to call it in one word - Truth is one, many roads lead to it. The main thing is the Light and Grandeur!  And also for my verses its: Love, archetypical memory of blood, mythological, religious and historical books. For the melodies Tymon is inspired by revelations of Hypnos and by good expensive spirits! :) said Demether.

We’re totally in recording process of our album named “Sic Luceat Lux!”. We record the album in Arsafes Studio, now stationed in Serbia. Under the guidance of the wonderful sound engineer Arsafes (Kartikeya, Above the Earth) one of the best Russian metal guitarists.
Guitars, drums, lead and backing vocals, some exotic instruments (such as congas and shamanic drums, for example) are fully recorded. Remained: bass, a little of guitar solos, choir, orchestra and a little more unusual instruments. The album has already several guest female vocalists from different Russian bands: Blackthorn, Emerald Night, Artania, Mizantropia.

For me personally Music - is Divine Energy, the magic of sound, it is the Word of the Gods, the Art o’er the man. It is – the Source of Life Energy almost on a par with Love.
Certainly, Metal is one of the very expressive forms of music invented by mankind, although I respect the classical music more because we incorporate it into our own creativity. Metal - it's manic energy, creative and destructive, it is a very powerful music, which, I think, of all the forms of music now personifies the emotions into the sound as maximum bright! Said Demether.
 Metal for me - is just a kind of music, it’s not the sense of my life and not my religion. I just like energy and powerful sound of metal. It’s very expressive music, and so I’d like to convey emotions by that type of art. But in the same way I like jazz, rock 'n' roll, and some classical music. In fact, I like variety in everything and in musical taste too; said Tymon.

 Metal music will never be understood by the majority, will never be fully accepted by society, for it is the music of a high soul- and feeling-standard, with a divine vibration, it is not for the lower castes, which are the vast majority of humanity now.
Metal is not music for everyone, in fact. Metal is disliked by people over 40 and musically uneducated teenagers. I repeat, metal is powerful music, not every ass can hold that blow. So, Metal doesn't need weak people. But in my opinion, to respect only metal is not enough. Metal heads really must know the history of metal. Early metal was hard rock was rock 'n' roll was blues. So if you know History - it will not be hard for you to prove to people what metal is just a type of very respectable kind of music - blues. And now show me who doesn't respect blues? If there is such - fuck them! They can continue to listen to stupid drum 'n' bass. And also I believe that metal music will never become mainstream, but the metal underground scene must become very large in the near future said Tymon.

Generally people thinks it’s hard to survive in underground but it depends on what you are up too what your ambition is… if you aim to have a million of money and lots of chicks around you than it’s surely hard to survive in metal but we believe - no, it all depends on the level of ambitions and plans. In principle, as underground metal is independent of the money - that survive quite easily, simply compose music and record by himself, with your own money, of course. Although it has now become easier with the recording - you can already record everything yourself at home, skillfully - no worse than an expensive studio. Do not lose heart, to continue to create, develop, and there may come commercial success - all depends on the person. To grumble at all is ugly!

 We have prepared for you a wonderful new music, beautiful, incredibly passionate and energetic. Expect this year the album "Sic Luceat Lux!" and be bright and wise men! Hopefully, someday we will visit your solar country with fucking-mad metal gig! :); said Demether
